Which century a house belongs to decides how it dries.

That is not a detail. An eighteenth century timber frame with wide board floors, a Gilded Age house with plaster on wood lath and deep stud bays, and a postwar house with drywall over framing are three different drying problems with three different schedules, and the only reliable way to tell them apart is to look at the assembly itself. Class 4 material sets the clock, not the calendar

The historic center and what leaves it
